Nick Beer Memorial 10k Route
Route Overview
The race starts on Llandudno’s North Shore promenade, typically near the Imperial Hotel, with a flat and fast opening section past the pier — a great opportunity to settle into rhythm before the climbing begins.
After roughly the first kilometre, the course transitions onto Marine Drive and begins its defining feature: a long, steady climb onto the Great Orme. This isn’t brutally steep, but it’s persistent — and often exposed to wind — so pacing is key. With the Irish Sea on one side and limestone cliffs on the other, it’s one of the most scenic climbs you’ll find in a UK road race.
Around halfway, near the famous “Rest and Be Thankful” café, you reach the high point of the course. From here, the race completely changes character.
What follows is a long, flowing descent — fast, runnable, and one of the highlights of the race. As you drop down towards West Shore, you’re rewarded with expansive views of Conwy Castle, Anglesey, and the surrounding coastline, making it feel more like a scenic tour than a race effort.
At around 8km, you re-enter Llandudno. The course flattens out as you pass through the town’s Victorian streets, before returning to the promenade for the final stretch. This last section is typically quick, exposed, and often lined with spectators — a strong finish back where you started.
