This is a short but sweet fell race starting from Capelulo. Nothing too technical and a great one for people new to fell running​ with options for all the different age ranges. On a good day it's an absolutely stunning little route - well worth going for a recce just to take in the views.

 

Route description: The race starts in the charming Fairy Glen in Capelulo. To begin it climbs steeply uphill on the road to thin out the pack. This road climb promptly turns into a hard pack track as you turn back on yourself and continues to climb uphill. This climb is tough but runnable for a fit athlete. Upon reaching the signpost you bear right onto a single track path - it is very challenging to pass on this section so position yourself accordingly. This section undulates with some off-camber sections and a small stream crossing before climbing sharply up to the telegraph pole. Here the final climb to the summit begins. This is a gravelly and often narrow climb, again runnable but a real leg sapper. There are a few spots for overtaking as you go up. After summiting you turn left and descend a wide and fast path and then follow it round to the right onto the absolutely stunning Jubilee Walk with views across Penmaenmawr and over to Anglesey. This path is fast and flat albeit narrow in places, good quick running. This brings you back to the telegraph pole. Here you have a short very steep grassy descent (caution in very wet conditions), and then undulating single track path back to the signpost. You then turn left and descend the track back down the fair glen. As a bonus there is a pub right by the finish for all your elite post race nutrition and hydration needs.

Shoe choice: Very little technical descending so unless very wet the fastest trail shoes in your closet.
